27th August, saw Glenn Walker Racing travel to Bishopscourt for the Irish Clubmans. Glenn had his Yamaha R6 and Aprilia RS250. So Practice (untimed) and the Pre-97 first, Glenn battled with team mate Damien Horgan (CBR600) for the first few laps but the CBR had the legs down the straights, and then the bike seemed to deck out and the fairings ripped off. The R6 seemed to be running well and the timed session proved this. Practice (timed) Glenn made 17th on the grid (out of 40 approx) for the Pre-97, and managed to get pole position in the Supersport 600 class. Onto the racing and what can be said! Great weather but thats about it. Pre-97 first and by the mid way point of lap one Glenn's exhaust snapped just after the expansion chamber, so that ruled that out for the rest of the day. Out on the R6 in the SS600 and getting caught up behind Davy Haire whos bike had loads of straight line speed, but Glenn would be past in the turns. Glenn was pushing hard, when diaster struct! It is said that his front wheel let go and this caused Glenn to part company with the bike.He was knocked unconcsious as the bike cartwheeled for a good while, but nothing major is damaged, just cosmetics. Glenn is fine, his right arm and shoulder are a bit sore but nothing is broke. He is now out for 30 days after being knocked out, so that is the end of his season. It is a great shame as Glenn was going well. Get Well Soon Glenn!
